The North and South Lunar Nodes: Knowing more about your Destiny & Past Lives

The Moon’s Lunar Nodes are always in combination with their polarity zodiac signs. Here we will take a closer look at the Moon’s North and South Lunar Nodes, what they mean, and what they can symbolize.

The North Node

In Vedic Astrology, the North node is known as Rahu.

The Moon’s North Node is usually used as the symbol for the future moving forward.  This Node has been said to magnetically pull your soul towards its future growth.  Your North Node has been said to symbolize the highest area of expression to be reached in your current life and therefore must be interpreted by the highest qualities of the sign and house in which it is located.

The North Node represents a new experience as yet untried.  For the individual, this is the new cycle to which he is looking forward. Carrying with it all the apprehensions of the unknown and as yet untried experiences, this Nodal position possesses a curious magnetic allure, pulling the soul towards its future growth.

There is a divine providence in trying something new, and here the individual receives much help for his efforts. At the very deepest levels of his being he feels a sense of direction. The North Node can also serve as a steppingstone for future growth.  It symbolizes the highest area of expression to be reached in the current life and therefore must be interpreted by the highest qualities of the sign and house in which it is placed.  With each step towards the North Node lessons and missions, the individual starts to feel better about themselves.  The individual’s life takes on new meaning as he experiences possibilities he had never considered before.

The individual does not achieve their north node destiny until after he rises to the highest karmic levels of his South Node. He must learn to give up gracefully his negative habits and memories which no longer serve a useful purpose in his life. He must be able to learn to walk where there are no footsteps yet laid. The amazing feature about the North Node is that however much man achieves it, there is always more to go—as it truly represents his everlasting upward spiral towards divinity.

The South Node

In Vedic Astrology, the South Node is known as Ketu.

The South Node is symbolic of man’s past.  It is not symbolic of one past incarnation but rather a combination of events, ideas, attitudes, and thoughts from every incarnation whose accumulated unresolved effects have created the current life.  Deeply ingrained behavior patterns are formed from all of these past lives.  Due to this, humans tend to rest on their south node as the comfortable familiarity of the past.  The house he or she builds for themselves can only rest upon the foundation they have created before.

The South Node can be limiting for some.  For others, whose past foundations are firm and large, it can be just the factor that brings the present life to a fruitarian of achievement.

The South Node is primarily known for being the potentially weakest spot in any horoscope due to the fact it represents the footsteps we have left behind us. In fact, a person’s most negative traits are those for which hundreds or thousands of years he has allowed to continue brewing within his soul.  Regardless of the paths we have taken this South Node trail leave sup open to karmic residue from behind. However, there can also be positive attributes we carry over into our current lives from our past lives also.

The South Node is symbolic of your past. It can signify the karmic residue that you have yet to balance or transmute. The magnetic pull of the South Node can feel like a heavy burden that you are carrying until its lessons are learned. It may pull you backward if you are not consciously aware of its presence and choosing to move toward your North Moon Node.

The karmic debts represented in your Moon’s South Node could steam from lifetimes extending from thousands of years ago to the incarnation just prior to this one.
